Wal-mart

We're listening to the radio right now and a Wal-mart ad came on. Emily gets all excited, gasps and says:

"Wal-mart...that's where we live in this world!"

Oh my!

Banana Eaters

Emily and Nathan sat on the kitchen floor this morning and ate a banana for their morning snack. This is the conversation that Emily and I had:

Emily: Mom, did you know gorillas eat bananas too?

Mom: You're right, you're so smart!

Emily: Do you know who else eats bananas Mom?

Mom: Do monkeys eat bananas?

Emily: Yes, but who else?

Mom: Do elephants eat bananas?

Emily: No, there's someone else who eats bananas.

Mom: Well, who else eats bananas?

Emily: Squiggles eat bananas!

Mom: Squiggles, who's that? (big smile)

Emily: I'm a squiggle and I eat bananas! (Radiant smile!)

Emily's nickname that Robby gave her as a baby is Squiggle! She never refers to herself as Squiggle, and will correct you quickly if you try to get her to call herself a squiggle. So to hear her tell me "squiggles eat bananas" was quite a funny moment!

I have such a cute little girl!

Presents from Texas

Nanny and Poppa sent a package from Texas and it arrived today. In it were movies, cds for Emily's little radio, gummy bears from Germany and new jammies for Emily that my mother-in-law made especially for her. She couldn't wait to put those jammies on tonight! Then of course she wanted a picture, and Nathan had to get in on the action!
I have dare devils! I'm not sure whether to be proud or scared?!?!?!?!?

Preschool

My little girl graduated from preschool! Wednesday was her last day of class, and Friday they'll have a swim party. Today (Thursday) Emily went over to Field to be tested to see if she can get into Kindergarten next year. We'll get the results back soon I hope.

I'm torn between wanting her in Kindergarten because that's where she is academically, but I'm not sure she'll be fine maturity wise being the youngest in class. Just a mother's fear.

When I asked Emily what the teacher asked her, she walked quickly away from me and said she said nothing to the teacher. "Oh great, you're attitude had to come out this morning" was my thought at that point! She then told me she told the teacher she didn't want to play the game because her whole body hurt, and she can't play if she hurts...Really, child?

These are the pictures I took of Emily on her last day of preschool. Nathan has begun to ham it up for the camera, so after I took the first picture (I love that smile she's giving), Nathan had to run over and get in the picture too!

Stylish Hats

Emily and Nathan love to stand on the table that is between the wall and the couch and play, dance, sing and model. These are a few pictures I have caught of them recently! Do you think Nathan looks a little girly? LOL We need to fix that soon, but he's so cute right now!!! Plus, these make great blackmail pictures later!

Mother's Day

Happy mother's day! Today was a good day. I got spoiled by the people I love the most! At church all the ladies received sugar cookies. Emily eyed mine and said, "when we get home you have to share that with me." I turned to her, gave her my meanest look and said back, "This is all mine. I'm not sharing even a little sugar sprinkle. Mine, mine, mine." :) Today is my one day to get to eat ALL of my cookie, and man was it good!

Then I came home and took a nap, from which Robby woke me up by jumping on the bed and scaring me half to death. I'm sure if I didn't love him so much, he would be in big trouble!

Then we got to talk to Robby's parents over the web cam and let them see the kids, and the kids see them! We are going to start doing that more often. Nathan didn't quite know what to do on camera, and it took Emily a while to warm up, but after that they both did fine and enjoyed seeing Nanny and Poppa.

During that conversation, Robby walked in with a cake that he and Emily made while I was asleep. That was sooooo nice of them. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting...doctored up by Robby of course! It's even heart shaped!

Then we went over to mom's house for a yummy spaghetti dinner. Mom gave me a cookbook I've been eyeing for a while and Kathryn gave each of the moms a "pretend" card that said she was taking us to lunch and to get a pedicure! I'm excited about that! Now we just need to find a time when all of us can go! Then we all piled into the living room and listened to mom and Kathryn playing the piano, and Michael singing. We even listened to an old John Bytheway tape (yes I said tape-told you it was old-LOL). Here's a few pictures of the kids with their Nana and Aunt Kathryn.

I got spoiled even more by holding my neice Allison. She is such a cutie and very sweet. Allison fell asleep in my arms and Robby caught this picture. The picture's caption says it all-I am very, very, VERY baby hungry!

I want to include something special here. My mom has been a mom now for 28 years, and she means so much to me.

So I want to post 28 things that I love about my mom, in no particular order:
1. beautiful singing voice
2. talented piano player

Yard Sale

Today we had a yard sale! As I was mentally going through the house thinking of things to sell, I thought we had a lot of junk to get rid of, but by the time I set everything up, Robby came out and his comment was, "Wow, I thought we were getting rid of more than is out here". My thoughts exactly. But good news! We made enough money to patch our roof until we can replace it, which is hopefully soon.

I still have a bird cage that I need to sell. This is the picture. I put the ad up on craigs list for $150, but if you give me a good offer, I'll sell it to you first! Let me know! Comment if you want the dimmensions or any other details.

Emily had the hardest time with the first few customers. They kept walking off with her toys. Or so she thought. Of couse they were paying for them, but she just saw her toys leaving. She was in full tears and hysteria! I told her they weren't stealing the stuff, they paid us money. Emily didn't get that concept until I pulled out a dollar and said that the dollar was hers for selling her toys. She was a happy clam for the rest of the day. She was so excited when people came because she thought she was getting more money! She did get 25 cents at the end of the sale for being extra good so she could spend it on the gumball machine at the mall. For being 4 years old, making $1.25 in 4 hours is pretty good! And she didn't have to do any work! LOL

Here are some pictures of what our yard sale looked like! I dun did the signs meself! That's tired talk for I was up until after 1am trying to get together stuff that should have been taken care of over the week and not the night before! Silly me! This being my first yard sale, I learned a lot, but don't plan to do another one for a long, LONG time! :)

Flying through Life

Has life been flying by for you too? I have been so busy that looking back nothing stands out in my mind, but we've had lots of fun, and have tried to spend more time as a family. These are some fun and cute pictures from the last few weeks.

This is the kids playing with the wild cat at Aunt Susan's house. It's a wild cat, and let's NO ONE touch her. But every time we are there Emily has been able to hold, love, bully and drag around this cat, and the cat is patient and seems to love the attention.

We got another picture with Nana and the kids. Nana loves these two little ones so much. When we go to Nana's house, they get ANYTHING they want. They just look at Nana and she gives them what they ask for and most of the time it's candy! Nathan has the "point and give the puppy dog eyes" look down to an art! But Nana wouldn't have it any other way!

A couple Saturdays ago we were out back cleaning up the yard and having fun playing in the fantastic weather. Emily can now ride on the dirt and is getting better at riding on the grass. She practices often! Nathan has a talent. He collects dirt. All he has to do is walk outside and the dirt comes running to join him! These are some fun pictures of that Saturday.

For some reason, the screwdriver was a hit with both kids and they wanted their picture taken with it!

Robby played monkey boy and climbed up into the rafters to see what was up there. Nathan thought that was pretty facinating.

This is the first picture I've had with Robby in a long time, and the stinker had to stick his tongue out! Oh well, it's Robby's personality and that's what I love about him!

Look at these blue eyes...They are able to get anything out of you!!!

Then Emily juiced lemons and Robby made the best lemonade!

Remember those beautiful loaves of bread. I took one out of the frig after church, went into the family for a few minutes to let the bread thaw, and I came back to find this...and Nathan with a big grin on his face!

This is just a funny picture of Emily. Emily is our diva princess. She has the attitude to go along with it. But I wouldn't trade that attitude for anything because of great moments like this!

Today Emily wanted pasta, begged and pleaded, then when I finished the pasta, she didn't want to eat. So she threw a fit, and she wasn't allowed to leave the table until she was done. I was at my desk working, and Emily got really quite at the table. When I went in to check on her, I found her asleep on the chair. Needless to say, she got to leave the table before her food was done on account of sleep!

Love to all!
